A Video Interview with Thomas Gold from Opium Barcelona

These past four months abroad in Madrid couldn't have been complete without the ideal night clubbing on the beach in Barcelona. Back in the early spring, I attended the inaugural Abroadfest Barcelona for a night of Kaskade and Thomas Gold, all right on the beach at the intimate fish-shaped Opium club. As if that wasn't enough to melt my heart, I had the opportunity to sit down with Mr. Gold himself for EDM Lounge's first ever on-camera interview. Tune in as Trisha Takanawa reports to you straight from the spicy Spanish city to see what TG has in store for Fanfare and the rest of 2013!

Review: Thomas Gold & More at Governors Island

Four amazing House sets at an amazing venue… what more could I ask for? Days like Sunday are why I love EDM. From the moment I stepped off of the PLUR-filled ferry, there was something special about Governors Beach Club this past Sunday. The weather and vibes were perfect, and the music was just as incredible.  Thomas Gold, Norman Doray, Tim Mason, and Carl Kennedy took over Governors Island.

The day started with a killer set from Carl Kennedy.  If I had a dime for every time I heard someone ask, “Who is this?” during his set, I'd be rich, but everyone who arrived in time to watch Kennedy's set left a fan.  In addition dropping crowd-provoking remixes of U2’s “Beautiful Day” and Cederic Gervais’ “Molly”, Kennedy set the euphoric tone for rest of the show, effortlessly inspiring the crowd to sing Cheyenne’s vocals from his hit track “Once Upon A Time” in unison. Carl Kennedy proved to be much more than an “opener”.  He is a truly talented DJ, and a pretty chill guy, who we should be hearing much more about here in the US in the near future.

Ferry after ferry of EDM-Lovers continued to fill Governors Beach Club to apparent capacity, as Carl Kennedy made way for legend Tim Mason.  The Brit’s synth-heavy style was evident throughout his set, and the crowd loved it.  After dropping the familiar Third Party track "Thank You" early in his set, the energy only rose from there with set-friendly records such as "Calling" and Guetta and Romero’s "Metropolis."

This Sunday in NYC: Thomas Gold at Governors Island

Who’s down for 8 hours of House on the beach? This Sunday August 12, EDM Lounge will be watching Thomas Gold, Norman Doray, Tim Mason, and Carl Kennedy take over Governors Beach Club, probably my favorite venue in the city. Nothing is quite like listening to incredible music, raging with friends, your feet in the sand, with the illuminated NYC skyline as a backdrop.

Headliner Thomas Gold has developed a reputation for his unique blend of Progressive House with other EDM styles, mainly Trance.  The best example of Gold’s style is “Sing2Me”, his most popular individual track that is sure to get the crowd raging on Sunday.

The German producer is also well known for successful collabs with heavy hitters, such as Dirty South, which produced the big room banger "Alive" feat. Kate Elsworth on vocals.  Tom is also praised for his remixes of Adrian Lux's massive hit "Teenage Crime," Adele’s "Set Fire to the Rain," and Sander van Doorn’s "Koko," to name a few.

Gold will share the stage with a talented opening lineup.  French DJ Norman Doray constantly releases tracks that climb the Beatport charts, including an amazing remix of  "Lick it" by Skrillex and Kaskade.  Tim Mason is a prized member of the Size Records’ roster, and oh yeah, Carl Kennedy has played for eight hundred thousand in Hungary at the Budapest Love Parade… yes, that's right, 800,000.

This is gonna be a "Golden" Sunday Funday. See you there.

Now here's a special message to NYC from Thomas Gold:

Hot New Progressive House from Axtone Records

Axtone records, the label of Swedish superstar DJ Axwell, surprises again with yet another hit single after Thomas Gold's Beatport-topping progressive house single, "Sing2Me." This hot new track "Leave A Light On" is a brilliant collaboration between the talented mixing of Henrik B and the amazing vocals of Rudy. A strong bassline continues throughout the whole track, but the song is still melodic and light. Out today on Beatport
