Throwback Thursday: "Death By House" - Len Faki

Soaked Techno heads packed the dark electronic tent at Tomorrowland this Saturday after torrential rain poured down on the throngs of partiers. After an icy, biting set by dark Tech king Adam Beyer the headliner of the night, Len Faki, came behind the decks to play one of the most enlivening sets I've ever experienced and without a doubt one of the best of the weekend. I was not too familiar with Faki other than a few of his huge hits but after getting down to the sound for an exhilarating two hours I am now a huge fan. Today acquaint your body with the bass for a throwback to over half a decade ago with Len Faki's killer "Death By House!"

"Ritual" (Andres Gil Refluxed's Remix) - Adrian Hour [Exclusive]

With industrial and linear rhythms "Ritual" comes at you with suffocating force like a runaway train. One of Medellín, Colombia's most daunting Techno producers Andres Gil shows no restraint in his "Refluxed remix," instensifying the already austere, heavy space sounds that shudder throughout Argentinian Adrian Hour's original mix. With dense layering and a paradoxically intricate yet minimal overlay on Adrian's prototype, this renovation is one hell of a white-knuckle thrill ride. Grab your copy today.

"Disconnect / Reconnect" (Maxime Dangles Remix) - The Japanese Popstars [Exclusive Track of the Day]

The Japanese Popstars are back behind the decks with their first new production since 2012, and it's already taking the Techno world by storm. Formed in 2007 by Decky Hedrock, Gary Curran and Gareth Donoghue, the popstars have been nominated for "Best House DJs" and have received the title "Best Live Act." The three garnered attention from many of the top jocks including Carl Cox, who's been mixing it in recent sets, and John Digweed himself who signed them to his own Bedrock. "Disconnect/Reconnect" is the perfect mix of deep, dark tech although it still flirts with the sound of electronica that The Japanese Popstars are known for, creating a perfectly balanced, pulsating record. Maxime Dangles, also signed to Bedrock, seamlessly remixed the track and throws in his own sprinkling of smooth electro undulations that perfectly blend with the echoing vocal samples and Techno canvas of the original. Play it loud and close your eyes, because this one was made for those shuddering dark warehouse spaces. Stream the exclusive full remix below and grab your copy today (the full album drops on July 15th).

This Thursday at Camp Bisco 12: Squarepusher

In a more than a few senses, spectacular is a the only word to describe what went down at Squarepusher's sensory feast at Detroit's Movement festival. From the video screen Jenkinson wears on his head, to the perplexingly intricate exposition of choreographed lighting that makes up the visual spectacle, to the boisterous, intricately and densely layered electric bass that provides the aural thrills, it was a performance in the truest sense of the word. It was almost as if we were meant to stand and bask in the sheer brilliance of the production, rather than become involved in it ourselves. The set turned many in the Underground Stage into squirmers rather than dancers.

But to me, blasting Squarepusher's older stuff and seeing him live, I've always felt the opposite. No matter the cleverness of his cacophonous music, it's never failed to make me move uncontrollably. While Jenkinson has no doubt moved on from the days where he prevailed amongst the headiest acid Techno acts (if you want to call it that) on the planet, he still always manages to bring back that old style and strikingly elevate the endorphin levels in the room. In the end, gigs don't get much better than this. If you have a thing for crazy loud sound, this is one act you don't want to miss this Thursday at the 12th annual Camp Bisco festival. Squarepusher will be closing the night at the Label Tent - we'll see you there!

"Eat Me" (Original Mix) - Habstrakt

This is one of the coolest productions I've heard in a while. When it comes to electronic music, simplicity is the most surefire way to originality, especially with a beat this clean. An offshoot of Moombah with a tinge of bass-driven Techno, "Eat Me" is a slick and potent track that will get those bodily juices flowing through the bouncing reverb line. As the title track, "Eat Me" is the obvious star, but if you're in the mood for some heavier beats be sure to check out the whole 4-track EP. Grab your copy today!
