Track of the Day: "1 2 Cake Cake" - Crizzly ft. Steve Aoki

Amidst a sea of disappointing bass music, today I found a super interesting track from my favorite producer from my home town: Crizzly. This interesting mashup of "Birthday Cake", "Warp 1.7", and "Cake Batter" somehow seems to work, and I'm totally feeling it. He's certainly an awesome producer, and this track demonstrates that. The Bloody Beetroots and Rihanna should not go together, and it takes mad skill to make them coexist. So big ups to Crizz for giving us this grizzly tune, and a personal thank you directly from me for making my favorite slut song more head noddy.

EDM Lounge Exclusive: "Strip Back" - Urchins [Free Download]

Today we have a very special treat for our EDM family, an exclusive Tech House free download handpicked by none other than Steve Aoki!

In celebration of Dim Mak's third installment of their compilation New Noise, here's what Steve had to say:

"We are on Volume 3 of our ground breaking compilation series that has given a voice to international artists from around the world writing cutting edge future music in EDM. There is no barriers here. We handpicked producers writing electro to moombahton to trap to dub step and beyond. Volume 3 to date is my favorite series yet w/ entire selection of EXCLUSIVE tracks from Sound of Stereo, Chewy Chocolate Cookies, Heroes and Villains, Will Bailey and Valentino Khan, Tommie Sunshine, Rico Tubbs, and a total of 23 tracks. This is the New Noise. We are the New Sound."

Whether you're holding on to that energy for the cake-throwing antics to come, or so zoned out from the headbanging good time it was, "Strip Back" is a funky little piece of Tech House that is perfect for chilling on any occasion. The entire two hour mix is available below, and it truly is cutting edge - this isn't the mainstream sound you're used to hearing at festivals these days, so enjoy!

It's The End of The World As We Know It EP - Steve Aoki

There is a reason Steve Aoki has a cult following and has earned the moniker "Asian Jesus." Aoki produces irresistible sounds that anyone can love and appreciate - I dare you not to dance while listening to any one of these. The highly anticipated It's The End Of The World As We Know It EP has finally been released on Dim Mak and features some stellar sounds that are sure to kick up the scene and turn up the bass. The EP kicks off with Aoki and Angger Dimas' collab, "Singularity" ft. My Name Is Kay. Beginning with powerful rhythmic-kicking bass, the record quickly leads you to Kay's beautiful vocals, which really blew me away. The build up is easy to lose yourself in and the climax will transcend your mind into a whole other dimension. I envision some major CO2 blasts during a live rendition of this track.

The second track featured is "Omega" ft. Dan Sena & Miss Palmer. The track begins with a pulsing synth that remains throughout the track. Miss Palmer masterfully belts out magnificent lyrics leading into a sick buildup & drop in true Aoki-Electro House style. I'm hoping to hear some hypnotizing trance remixes with these beautiful lyrics.

The final track featured is "Transcend" ft. Rune RK. Immediately blasting you with a high paced buildup and mesmerizing drop, the energy on this one is high for the entire duration. The title is fitting, because it's sure to make your mind surpass all range and limits. On Decemeber 21st, I will be blasting this EP all day because if the world does happen to combust, I'm going out happy.

Steve, 12th Planet, & R3hab will be at Congress Theatre this Saturday in Chicago, with Aoki also playing at The Mid afterparty, so come celebrate the new release with us and live up your last few days before the world comes to a fiery end!

Out now on Beatport!

Free Download: "Beefin'" - CTLGD (Trilluminati Trap Remix)

Just a week after Thanksgiving it’s never too late to be thankful, especially for the internet’s ability to expose anyone with talent to anyone surfing the web. On this fine Trap Thursday, I was lucky enough to come across the Soundcloud page of CTLGD. Real name Christian Mochizuki, this young fresh talent from Hawaii really caught my attention with his Trilluminati remix of the signature Steve Aoki and Afrojack collab "No Beef." Making great use of the original vocals we all know and love as well as the EFFEDUPCAMEL sample, this one leads to pure trap filth after the drop. Follow the link to CTLGD’s Facebook for the free download along with a few others and definitely watch for more from this dude in the near future.
