Rusko Presents: Stir Fry Mix #2

Rusko remains one of the founding fathers of the dance music wave in the US, and one of the scene's most vibrant rebels. The British pioneer has brought us countless staples in the world of Dubstep from "Everyday," to "Woo Boost," to "Cockney Thug," apart from being the headliner of the first show I attended which will forever keep his music close to my heart. Personal feelings aside, this two hour mix of hand-picked tracks showcases both his ear for good music and his knack for slapping you in the face with unexpected sounds. The mix starts off with some groovy, chill beats but quickly transfers over to the heavy bass. Stir Fry really covers it all so the next time you want to hear new music but you're not sure what mood you're in, I would highly recommend blasting this.

Free Set Downloads: Ultra Music Festival Weekend 1

Well, that was quick. Weekend 1 of Ultra seemed to go by in one giant blur, with epic sets being thrown down left and right. With so much to choose from, it’s hard for me to pick out my favorite set of the weekend. For me the best (streamed) set of the weekend would have to go to Armin van Buuren, although Hardwell came in a very close second with a set that was so good Twitter had to shut down his account due to the overflow of tweets directed at him. I think this is only a taste of what Hardwell can do, and I can definitely see a #2 DJ award in the near future. Weekend 1 set a pretty high benchmark, and hopefully Weekend 2 will be able to match it. See you down there, and watch for our whole review of the weekend tomorrow!

Free Download: "Yeah" - Rusko [Kapow EP]

British Dubstep legend Rusko just dropped his newest Kapow EP on November 4th for free download. He had managed to keep his original sound all through this music-producing career, but he took a slightly different approach with this new release. His original track “Yeah” sounds like a combination between “Somebody to Love” and “Skanker” mixed with more bubbly sounding syths and vocals. Although the EP may not sound entirely like the Rusko we’ve gotten to know and love, he still rolls the bass, hard! Overall, he did a great job mixing his dark sounds with happy-go-lucky vibes.

Track of the Day: "Like This" - Rusko

And Dubstep master has done it again. Not that we ever doubted him, but Rusko has really surprised us this time this with this new track, “Like This,” featuring an interesting blend of musical components. Slowing down from his usual high bpm tunes, this new release has a chillstep vibe to it that’s edged with a few trappy rhythms. With another layer of vocals utilizing FatLip's “Wow” from Salmon´╗┐ Dance by The Chemical Brothers, this track has got us here at the Lounge saying "wow."

Halloween in NYC @ Pier 94 with Knife Party, Rusko, Tommy Trash, & More

I'm so glad NYC is getting a good dose of EDM this fall with countless events coming up and stacked lineups at the clubs for the coming few months. Halloween weekend in the big city is going to be dominated by EDM at the "Pier of Fear," being opened with a haunted performance Friday, October 26 from Destructo, Style of Eye, Bauuer (yes - Baauer!), Kill the Noise, Tommy Trash, and Knife Party! Close out your weekend Sunday the 28th with a cursed set from none other than Rusko, who more than adequately rolled the bass last time we saw him (at EZoo). We better be seeing all of you in costumes there! NOTE: RUSKO has been moved to Pacha NYC.

Tickets are now onsale for the Friday show. Get them here before prices go up!
