Track of the Day: "Satellite" (Mat Zo D&B Remix) - Oceanlab

Justine Suissa's firey tale of love and separation anxiety remains one of the absolute pinnacles of vocal Trance. The Sirens of the Sea classic has been warped into every mold imaginable with everyone from Seven Lions to its original producers Above & Beyond taking a bet on the remix roulette. Today I dug back in our archives in search of a chill mix to study to and started playing Mat Zo's liquid "DnB Mix of Love" that he put out back in December. To my surprise arguably the most powerful track off the mixtape and my favorite remix of this track to date hadn't been uploaded or even mentioned anywhere on the internet. The breaks in this are ethereal and suffocating, and it really showcases the side of Zo that we don't hear too much of these days. Enjoy!

My love is like footsteps in this snow, baby,
I follow you everywhere you go, baby.
The pain as light has come to wake you
But you will never realize
That I inspire the dreams that guide you, baby.

I follow the winds that bring the cold, baby,
I light a fire in your soul, baby.
The lightest touch of feathers falling
My love might be invisible
But I inspire the dreams that guide you, baby

You're a half a world away
But in my mind I whisper every single word you say.
And before you sleep at night
You pray to me, your lucky star, your singing satellite.

Your singing satellite

You say a prayer
You say a prayer

You're a half a world away
But in my mind I whisper every single word you say.
And before you sleep at night
You pray to me, your lucky star, your singing satellite.

You're a half a world away
But in my mind I whisper every single word you say.
And before you sleep at night
You pray to me, your lucky star, your singing satellite.

Trance Tuesday ft. Cold Blue, Rick Mitchells, Mat Zo, Arty, & Oceanlab

"Atlantis" - Cold Blue

Released just yesterday, this track is a cool, calming trance track that features some different sounding synths. With a bright sound to it, "Atlantis" features a gorgeous breakdown that only enhances the shimmering melody that progresses throughout it. It almost seems as if the notes are just flying off the track. Extremely uplifting while maintaining a unique and unparalleled sound, German producer Tobias Schuh shows just how underrated he is. If you love the progressive uplifting trance that is all over the Trance Around the World podcasts, you will surely adore this. Enjoy.

"Sub Zero" - Rick Mitchells

We always like to show a variety of different tracks, and for trance this one is certainly different. Don't expect an uplifting melody or cheesy vocals, this track offers something a lot different. Very reminiscent of W&W, this track has the typical Trance structure but certainly lacks that timid, beautiful melody. Featuring banging bass, crazy synths and a strong ballad melody, "Sub Zero" is just oozing with energy and will no doubt liven up any trance set. Hailing from the Netherlands, this Dutch trance producer formally known as Rick Buijtenhek is trying to break new boundaries - and it seems to be catching on. His signature sound is pretty easy to recognize and it makes us excited to see what more of this genre-breaking production will lead to.

"Satellite Dynamics" - Mat Zo & Arty vs Above & Beyond pres. OceanLab

Although this mashup is nearly a year old, the tracks that its composed of are far older. If you are a true Above & Beyond fan, you will know that at one point the trio was referred to as "OceanLab," after releasing their album Sirens of the Sea, which featured the gorgeous vocal Trance melodies of Justine Suissa. "Satellite," released in 2004, is considered to be the track that gave Above & Beyond their name in the international Trance game, and "Synapse Dynamics" just flows so effortlessly with it. This mashup seems to never lose its luster and "Satellite" is considered an eternal trance melody in the hearts of many fans. Sit back, relax and let this mashup show you how old can be revamped with new. That's the fantastic thing about Above & Beyond, their tracks never seem to die out or go away. Their relevancy lives on through their remixes, mashups, and earth-shattering originals.

"Black Is the New Secret" - Oceanlab vs. Super8 & Tab (Tritonal Mashup)

EDM is still currently dominated by the Europeans (in the best possible way ever!), so it’s refreshing when an artist so close to home emerges and can hold their own with the best of the Swedes and Dutch. Tritonal, hailing from Austin, TX, does just this. Releasing their debut album Piercing the Quiet in 2011, Chad Cisneros and Dave Reed have been at work nonstop, releasing remix after remix and mashup after mashup. Here, the talented progessive trance duo takes two trance monsters and smashes them together, with their own twist, to create one beautiful piece of happiness. The only thing I can say is: “Happy Friday!”
