Track of the Day: "Lift Me" - Maor Levi

Xtralife Records' (Strictly Rhythm) newest release comes from the versatile Maor Levi. Levi's "Lift Me," does exactly what the title describes - the quickly paced buildup paralleled with an angelic repeating "lift me up" voice sample brings you effortlessly into the clouds and has you staring into the sun the entire time. The track is definitely not a sleeper though, with just the right amount of bass rifts to carry you through the refrain. The cross-genre blending that Levi has crafted here is beautiful and dirty at the same time. Keep on dancing through Memorial Day Weekend - love from all of us at the Lounge!

Track of the Day: "Lights" (Maor Levi Remix) - Myon & Shane 54 ft. Aruna

After producing what many argue is the best track on Anjunabeats Vol. 10, "Liquid Love" (Club Mix), Maor Levi is ready for the EDM masses. His remix of Myon & Shane 54's "Lights" has much more of an Electro vibe, but it's not too much of a departure from what we've been hearing lately. Just like his remix of The Killers' "Miss Atomic Bomb," Maor has found a way to take the best parts of an original mix and produce a track with his own flair that nobody else can. Be sure to catch Maor at his NYC debut at Santos Party House Saturday the 27th (tickets here)!

Throwback Thursday: "Breaking 2Night" - Eric Prydz vs. OceanLab

Of all of Above & Beyond's aliases throughout the years, their work under OceanLab shines the brightest. Formed back in 2000 with star vocalist Justine Suissa, these productions stay relevant and widely used in their sets to this day. Today we throwback to 2007 when "Breaking Ties" was first premiered on TATW 178, making waves for the trio. Maor Levi chopped up the track to mash it alongside Eric Prydz' "2Night" to create this truly dreamy mix that you'll still hear every now and then. Playing this one will have your spirit instantly transported to the cool marine blue where OceanLab calls home. Happy Valentine's Day Anjunalovers!

"Miss Atomic Bomb" - The Killers (Maor Levi Remix)

While lamenting the loss of my headphones yesterday (you can read about it here) I made an executive decision to listen to more Progressive House. Luckily for me, I stumbled upon Maor Levi’s remix of "Miss Atomic Bomb." I’m a big fan of The Killers, and I really liked his remix of Krewella’s "Alive", so I had high expectations for his ‘Miss Atomic Bomb’ remix. After listening to it on repeat for about an hour, I think it’s pretty safe to say that it met my expectations. I was most impressed with how well Brandon Flowers’ vocals were smoothed into the synth. When it comes to a lot of remixes, vocals are usually either not used enough or they’re drowned out by the instrumentals. With vocals as good as these are, Maor Levi nailed it. For a more poppy take on the track be sure to check out Felix Cartal's remix too!

Trance Tuesday ft. Above & Beyond, Maor Levi, & Gal Abutbul

"Liquid Love" - Above & Beyond (Maor Levi Remix)

Maor Levi is a frequently visited producer on Trance Tuesdays because of his amazing versatility. From creating straight bangers, to melodic pieces of art, he simply can't be talked about enough. The debut of this track was featured in Bangalore, India for TATW 450 / ABGT 001 and it is still ringing in my ears. This time he is treating us to a classic, with a modern twist. Taken off Above & Beyond's classic album Tri-State, he gives the song a new pair of kicks. Still maintaining the sonorous vocals of the renowned Richard Bedford, you can bet he does the song justice. New and old Trance fans, feast your ears on this classic, and find yourself caught in the epic bassline Maor Levi creates.

"Spring Breeze" (Original Mix) - Gal Abutbul

This massive tune was released just yesterday and is already ranked at #95 on Beatport's top 100. Israeli producer Gal Abutbul is exuding Audien's signature style with this track and it works amazingly. After hearing this track on ABGT 003, I just had to feature it because it is a beautiful combination of ambient vocals, a driving melody and an interesting bassline. Grabbing his claim to fame under the Armada label, he has the backing of respected producers such as Markus Schulz. It may be winter but you can still get a taste of that "Spring Breeze" with this track. Warm your ears up to this one and get yourself familiar with Gal Abutbul, because something tells me this won't be the last we'll be hearing of him.

Golden Oldie

"Home" (Club Mix) - Above & Beyond

As Dash Berlin predicted on his Twitter, "2013 will be the year for trance!" And boy, does that have us excited. After featuring Maor Levi's remix of Liquid love, and hearing Genix's remix of "Home", I decided it would be appropriate to dust off and pay homage to another Above & Beyond classic. "Home" is another track off their debut album, and it still maintains enormous relevance today. On ABGT 001, Above & Beyond ended their legendary set with this one - which is fitting since it was one of the many songs that gave the trio their name. Nearly 6 years after the track was released, it is still played and enjoyed by many. With lyrics that resonate with nearly any audience, A&B shows the world how Trance can be made to withstand the test of time. TranceFamily members and EDM fans alike will be sure to feel at "Home" in the arms of this familiar tune. Enjoy.
