Preview: "SFO To ORD" - Kaskade

This snippet is short enough to drive me crazy but I still have had it playing over and over. You may remember Kaskade assuring us that Atmosphere was going to go deep following his Redux tour... but just how deep did he mean? Now we're finally starting to get a better glimpse of the album, set for release shortly on September 10th, and it's looking like it's about to take us back to those carefree days of It's You, It's Me. "SFO To ORD" is hard to assess, but like its title would suggest, the sound is all about motion, transit, and divergence, a perfect vibe for those late nights and afterhours parties.

"Turn It Down Animals" - Kaskade vs. Martin Garrix [Download]

If you've been to any festivals lately you'd know that "Animals" is one of the hottest and perhaps over-played tracks of the summer. I first heard this mashup played at an underground rave in Brooklyn by The Chainsmokers and was really impressed with how Rebecca & Fiona's firey and icey vocals played with the interlude to Garrix's breakthrough Electro banger. Kaskade quickly picked up on the electrifying combination, playing it at his SummerLovin' sets in Las Vegas and Atlantic City and to a huge crowd at The Gorge for Paradiso festival in Washington State. Knowing the popularity of these two records we can't expect this on a Kaskade Music Monday for a while, so this afternoon I present you with a free download of the mashup recreated by Ele Cabrera of Mexico.

Kaskade Shows Off New Tracks & Mashups on Sirius XM's Electric Area

Yesterday I had the pleasure of attending Kaskade's live broadcast from Midtown Manhattan at the SiriusXM offices. When we first arrived at the "Electric Aquarium," we heard a short interview on air from outside the soundproofed glass bubble. Kaskade unsurprisingly stressed the irrelevance of the DJ Mag poll and dodged a question about whether we can expect more solo work on Atmosphere, though judging by his response it didn't seem so. After the short interview we quickly filed into the aquarium and he asked the audience if we had any requests. The set was short but sweet and we got to hear a lot of snippets from tracks and mashups that he's just recently been pushing in his Summer Lovin' events in Vegas and AC, as well as his recent stop at Paradiso fest. His "Turn It Down Animals" mashup that he premiered at Paradiso also gets dropped into the mix and it is banging!

1. Last Chance (Clockwork Remix) - Kaskade & Project 46
2. Something Something Champs (Summer Lovin Mash) - Kaskade & Zip Zip Through The Night vs. Moguai
3. Surge - Clockwork ft. Wynter Gordon
4. We Are Gods - John Dahlbäck
5. Roar - Axwell & Sebastian Ingrosso (Syle of Eye Remix?)
6. Every Breath Is Like A Heartbeat (Myon & Shane 54 Summer of Love Mix) - Late Night Alumni
7. Turn It Down Animals (Kaskade Mashup) - Kaskade vs. Martin Garrix

Catch a 6 Hour Kaskade Redux Set at Tao Las Vegas Labor Day Weekend

My favorite DJ Kaskade has just confirmed a very special return of his Redux style set in anticipation of his Big Rooms Small Tour this fall, where he will be hitting arenas in Brooklyn, Chicago, Miami, and Los Angeles. Ryan has captured the summer lovin' imaginations of hundreds of thousands in a decade of stardom that has seen between 150 and 200 headlining performances each year, and this Labor Day weekend (Sunday, September 1) he will be playing a 6 hour set at Tao Las Vegas to commemorate the summer vibe entrenched deeply in his persona. I'm a sucker for extended sets so we might have to fly out for this one. Grab your tickets now!

Track of the Day: "Hearts" (Kaskade & R3hab Remix) - Dan Black ft. Kelis

Two unlikely collaborators make for an unexpected remix. Prepped for our listening "somewhere in the summer of 2012," R3hab and Kaskade's collab on Dan Black's "Hearts" showed up on the web just hours ago and it is already receiving rave reviews. This is quite an unusual sounding track but delightful nonetheless because it's all about the collision between the two artists' skillsets; Kaskade's touch shines through on vocal Progressive tracks (Kelis is a perfect candidate), and R3hab's on the climax. Together the forces bring forth truly major track that warms my soul. Blast this track from the mountaintops "'cause the heart never sleeps!"
