Entries in Henrix (5)

Preview: Hardwell, Dyro, Audien, Henrix @ Governors Island

Brace yourselves the biggest event to hit Governors Island yet! My favorite venue in NYC will be kicking off summer tomorrow with 5 huge names in dance music. Let's start with Alex English. The Webster Hall resident and co-creator of "Girls & Boys" on Friday nights will bring the bass and have everyone raging out as soon as the doors open at four. I have seen Alex play numerous times and each time has been a blast.
Next on the lineup is the massively talented Henrix. The Miami based DJ and producer is the artist to watch on this lineup. You all know him from hits such as the monster track of 2013 "Hit It" with GTA and Digital Lab and "After All" with Darmon and Eran Hersh. You must also check out his bootlegs if you haven't already! I can't wait to finally see him live tomorrow, I'll have all my energy ready for his set at 5.

The next two artists are both young, super talented and have taken the dance music scene by storm - I'm sure you have all heard of them unless you've been living under a rock. Dyro, hailing from the Netherlands, has been plastered all over the dance music scene as Hardwell's go-to protege with his sick remixes and productions. Some of my favorite Dyro material include his remix of Morgan Page and Nadia Ali's single "Carry Me," Calvin Harris and Nicky Romero's "Iron" and his own track "Leprechauns & Unicorns".

"Losing My Mind" - Henrix & Jakob Liedholm ft. Giuseppe Viola

I can write about these guys every week. A few days back I wrote about a new release "Close Your Eyes" by these two madmen and now it seems like they’ve dropped another hit. "Losing My Mind" ft Giuseppe Viola is a Progressive House anthem waiting to be heard! The build is really relaxed with some smooth vocals by Viola and a nice drum mixed with some Electro piano chords in the background. You soon find yourself at the break which is great because it's not over-the-top heavy, but at the same time it's something to dance to. Then in just an instant the two transport you back to the chilled out vocals and relaxing melody. Definitely my kind of summer on the beach party track.

"Close Your Eyes" - Henrix & Jakob Liedholm ft. Zashanell

After writing about Michael Brun's new track "Halfway" featuring Zashanell last week, I decided to do a little more research on the little known vocalist considering how amazing her vocals were. To my amazement I stumbled upon a track that she recently recorded with Henrix and Jakob Liedholm, two of my favorite DJs that have been diving into the scene hard lately. Yet again, Zashanell absolutely killed the vocals, adding a whole new layer to the light strings mixed in with the vocals to make for a sick buildup followed by a Progressive break. Both of these young artists are still under 20 but have huge potential, especially after getting decent exposure at this year's Winter Music Conference, with Henrix holding tight to his chart-topper "Hit It" ft. GTA which has found itself on heavy replay early on this season. With more bangers like this one to come, be sure watch out for these two as there true colors show in 2013!

Track of the Day: "Hit It" - Henrix, GTA, Digital Lab

Set to be Size's biggest record for Spring, "Hit It" has been one of the most anticipated releases since this Summer when Angello first premiered it at his event in Central Park. Well now it's out. The three Miami acts combined forces to create an explosive sound that balances the Electro House phenomenon we've been hearing with the more experimental side of dance that's been exploding on the web. Matt & Julio of GTA, who recently played Webster Hall, provide the perfect flair to the already talented skillset of the two House producers which really tops the track off. With this release Henrix remains one of the top people to watch in the scene to climb the ranks later this year.

"Love Comes Again" - Tiesto ft. BT (Henrix Remix)

Tiesto & BT's classic is one of my favorite Progressive tracks ever made, and always one that'll put a smile on my face when I hear its huge stadium sound. Due out February 4th is Henrix's masterful remix, which takes a new spin on the original that we've never heard before. As a mainstay of many Trance artists' sets, I'm used to hearing this with deep, pulsating basslines that make the walls shake. Henrix takes that sound and flips it upside down, instead aiming for a heavenly Progressive break that will shine light into any cold, dark day. Just when I've broken down I found, love can come again!
