This Sunday in NYC: Thomas Gold at Governors Island

Who’s down for 8 hours of House on the beach? This Sunday August 12, EDM Lounge will be watching Thomas Gold, Norman Doray, Tim Mason, and Carl Kennedy take over Governors Beach Club, probably my favorite venue in the city. Nothing is quite like listening to incredible music, raging with friends, your feet in the sand, with the illuminated NYC skyline as a backdrop.

Headliner Thomas Gold has developed a reputation for his unique blend of Progressive House with other EDM styles, mainly Trance.  The best example of Gold’s style is “Sing2Me”, his most popular individual track that is sure to get the crowd raging on Sunday.

The German producer is also well known for successful collabs with heavy hitters, such as Dirty South, which produced the big room banger "Alive" feat. Kate Elsworth on vocals.  Tom is also praised for his remixes of Adrian Lux's massive hit "Teenage Crime," Adele’s "Set Fire to the Rain," and Sander van Doorn’s "Koko," to name a few.

Gold will share the stage with a talented opening lineup.  French DJ Norman Doray constantly releases tracks that climb the Beatport charts, including an amazing remix of  "Lick it" by Skrillex and Kaskade.  Tim Mason is a prized member of the Size Records’ roster, and oh yeah, Carl Kennedy has played for eight hundred thousand in Hungary at the Budapest Love Parade… yes, that's right, 800,000.

This is gonna be a "Golden" Sunday Funday. See you there.

Now here's a special message to NYC from Thomas Gold:

Review: Gareth Emery at Governors Island

From the moment we stepped aboard the ferry at South Street in Lower Manhattan, Trance was in the air. I have been to many shows at Governors Island, but none could possibly compare to last Saturday's showing. It goes without saying that Made Event really know how to throw a party, but the energy from the crowd in response to Gareth Emery's massive two-and-a-half hour set is what really turned this night from a normal night of partying into a life-affirming musical experience.

With the whole world oogling over the live stream (above - Gareth's set starts about 3 hours in), #GarethEmeryNYC quickly became a trending topic worldwide. With a mind-blowingly melodic, uplifting, and grooveable 2.5 hour set filled with originals, established crowd-hits, and everything in between, this was hardly a surprise.

Set Highlights & Crowd Favorites

"Kansai" - Alex Sonata

Gareth gave the #TranceFamily a taste of what was to come by opening his set with this inspirational Trance record. I had never heard this track before but was absolutely blown away by its big-room sound and his seamless transition into his own original, "The Saga."

"The Saga" - Gareth Emery

"Mansion" - Armin van Buuren (Porter Robinson Edit)

"All I Can Give You" - Let The Music Play ft. UTRB (Ashley Wallbridge Remix)

This Weekend in NYC: Gareth Emery at Governors Island

New York, you better brace yourselves for a Trance invasion this weekend! Get yourselves ready for yet another round of island partying this Saturday, August 4 because English producer and DJ Gareth Emery will be blasting the beats with the help of a stacked support lineup including Ben Gold, Blake Jarell, and others.

After selling out shows from Miami to Manchester, Gareth is ready to rock the big apple by echoing his anthemic progressive tunes across NY harbor and beyond. Made Event is sure to give us a tasty flavor of the fun that's coming at the end of this month with Electric Zoo with sick visuals and set designs! The entire show will be broadcast live, so even if you can't make it to the city this weekend you won't miss out on the Garuda trance! Watch out for photos of the event soon because we'll be there snapping 'em!

Robbie Rivera at Governors Beach Club NYC

House veteran Robbie Rivera put on an absolutely sick show Saturday night at Made Event's Juicy New York at Governors Beach Club. With the light of Lower Manhattan as a backdrop, Rivera dropped some seriously sick tunes to the enthusiastic response of the crowd.

Here's a tracklist of crowd favorites, as well as some Rivera originals:

"A Heavy Abacus" - Qulinez

"The Veldt" - Deadmau5

"Call Out Epic" (Kaskade Mashup) - Kaskade vs. Sandro Silva & Quintino

"Rage Valley" - Knife Party

"Break'n a Sweat" - Skrillex & The Doors (Zedd Remix)

This Weekend in NYC: Robbie Rivera & More at Governor's Island

Made Event (the host of Electric Zoo) is back with yet another edition of fun at Governors Beach Club this Saturday, July 14. With veteran DJ Robbie Rivera headlining the event, and absolutely stacked support, this sultry summer Saturday is sure to go down in the books. Come out and play on Governors Island starting at 4 PM, and stay until midnight, when the lights of the city above will be just as impressive as the sounds you're going to hear.

Robbie Rivera

This guy is prolific! Hitting his big break way back in 2000, Rivera's been around the block - his beats are at the pulse of the partying population. Robbie's tunes and mixes are played on heavy rotation on EDM radio stations online and all around the world, and he's more than used to playing packed-out crowds. From Miami to London, from Ibiza to his home of Puerto Rico, Rivera packs out dancefloors with his infectious house sound like a champ. So get out there NYC!

Sultan & Ned Shepard

We first noticed these guys back when Tiesto's Club Life Vol. 2 was released, and we're glad we did! Proving themselves time and time again with their remixes and vocal collaborations with the likes of Nadia Ali, the two have quickly become one of our favorite new sounds in Progressive House! We can't wait to see them live!

EDX is no newbie to the scene - his stuff's been making its way around the web since '94. Named among heavyweights Eric Prydz and Deadmau5 in Beatport's Top 3 Progressive House DJs in 2009, EDX is certainly someone we'll have our eyes, and ears glued to this weekend.
