EDM Lounge Interviews Cazzette

I was able to enjoy a brief chat with Sebastian Furrer and Alexander Bjorklund, the Swedish duo better known as Cazzette, before their set Saturday night at the Midwest's first ever Electric Daisy Carnival in Chicago. The two made a huge debut into the scene in 2011 after their first release of the remix "Sweet Dreams," originally remixed by Avicii. Their manager Ash Pournouri, most notable for Avicii's stardom, is one of the scene's behind-the-scenes powerhouses, but it looks like his magic has been working on Cazzette's rise to fame as well. "Beam Me Up" has been blowing up the charts, generating a combined total of 8 million views on YouTube and 4.4 million streams on Spotify, leaving the world in the palm of their hands. I wanted to see what they were going to do with it.

Sierra Rose: This is the first EDC Chicago, how does it feel to be here?

Sebastian Fuller: We really love Chicago as a city and the crowd here is amazing. We just play clubs here basically so, this is the first time doing a festival here so its really exciting and it's EDC so..

Alexander Bjorklund: Yeah, it's cool to be apart of the first one, ya know?

SR: How do you think Chicago will compare to other EDCs?

SF: It's really tough. First of all, it's raining today (laughter)

AB: There was really good sun in New York and even though Vegas wasn't it was still pretty hot, so...

SF: Ask us after our set. (laughter)

SR: After the set? Okay! Do you prefer the festival or the club scene? I've seen you guys at The Mid the past two times you have been there and they were awesome shows but I've also seen you at Ultra, which was equally amazing, so?

SF: Well I mean, we love clubs and festivals but I think we like to do festivals sometimes and sometimes clubs. Because if you just do festivals for awhile, it just gets boring, if you just do clubs for a while it gets boring. Theaters too are very cool. That's like maybe the best one because it's like a festival but still very intimate. You can look, see people in their faces and you know reactions and stuff like that.

SR: How long did it take to create "Eject"?

"After Dark" (Nom de Strip Remix) - Style of Eye & Tom Staar

Let me be the first to say that I was a huge fan of the original club mix by Style of Eye and Tom Staar.  "After Dark" was my early spring jam and something everyone could enjoy with its great progressive house/pop melody over a subtle Teched-out beat. Now that it's summer time and I'm back in NYC, I'm always looking for the hard hitters: the ones that I can hear at clubs and lose it all night to. Leaving the soft components of the melody with the vocals that I love, Nom de Strip strips it down into scratching Electro perfection, paints on some drum work and intensity to the build up, unveiling a track that's made to make you dance for days. Watch out for this Canadian powerhouse as he keeps crashing the Electro party!

Track of the Day: "Give It All" (Don Diablo & CID Remix) ft. Alex Clare

Don Diablo delivers a highly impressive remix of his own original with CID for "Give It All," an energizing yet forceful Electro House track with a very pleasing vocal score complemented by bass components. The vocals on the track are provided by Alex Clare, whom we all know very well thanks to "Too Close." I'm really digging this sound, it's quite refreshing and makes me happy to hear after months of stuff that's really only struck me as "meh." This is one that will stick with you after the first time you hear it, and I'm loving that. Big ups to these amazing producers, grab your copy today!

"Cango" (Extended Preview) - Pelari

As the anticipation builds towards Tiësto's release of Club Life Volume 3, Stockholm on the 18th, fans are starting to get a first look at the insane new tracks from the mega DJ. One of my favorites is "Cango" by the relatively unknown Swedish act Pelari. So obscure, in fact, that their facebook fan page only has 685 likes on Facebook! Don't let that fool you though, if your first release is on Club Life, it must be pretty impressive, and this one definitely comes off as one of the compilation's shining tracks. With an insane kick drum and dope buildups with crazy synths this is the summer hit we've been waiting for. Make sure to keep Pelari on your radar as they continue to break onto the scene as some of the next big Swedes!

Exclusive: "Ocelot" (Original Mix) - Chris Poirier & Murtagh

Moist basslines dip through the running 80s style synth to make this the perfect upbeat Electro for the summer. The switchover from the calming melody to the cat-like bass scratches one minute in is one of the smoothest Electro transitions I've heard lately, making this a prime candidate for inclusion in any DJ set. The unlikely combo of Dublin based Murtagh and Canadian Chris Poirier made for a smoking single with a lot of pounce, so be sure to grab your copy today. You heard it here first!
