Preview: Hardwell, Dyro, Audien, Henrix @ Governors Island

Brace yourselves the biggest event to hit Governors Island yet! My favorite venue in NYC will be kicking off summer tomorrow with 5 huge names in dance music. Let's start with Alex English. The Webster Hall resident and co-creator of "Girls & Boys" on Friday nights will bring the bass and have everyone raging out as soon as the doors open at four. I have seen Alex play numerous times and each time has been a blast.
Next on the lineup is the massively talented Henrix. The Miami based DJ and producer is the artist to watch on this lineup. You all know him from hits such as the monster track of 2013 "Hit It" with GTA and Digital Lab and "After All" with Darmon and Eran Hersh. You must also check out his bootlegs if you haven't already! I can't wait to finally see him live tomorrow, I'll have all my energy ready for his set at 5.

The next two artists are both young, super talented and have taken the dance music scene by storm - I'm sure you have all heard of them unless you've been living under a rock. Dyro, hailing from the Netherlands, has been plastered all over the dance music scene as Hardwell's go-to protege with his sick remixes and productions. Some of my favorite Dyro material include his remix of Morgan Page and Nadia Ali's single "Carry Me," Calvin Harris and Nicky Romero's "Iron" and his own track "Leprechauns & Unicorns".

"Never Say Goodbye" (Original Mix) - Hardwell & Dyro ft. Bright Lights

Bright Lights' vocals over the tried and true twangy Revealed sound turned out to be a surefire hit as Hardwell took to the stage of Ultra Music Festival for the defining set of his career. "Never Say Goodbye" makes up for its somewhat stale backbeat with a truly powerful vocal section from Bright Lights which provides a glossy coating over the sweeping rhythm. Dyro and his mentor wind down the tempo with perfect form before pulling us backwards, unraveling a beat that pops open like a jack-in-the-box. Keep your eyes fixed on Robbert as he advances towards the ultimate coup later this year.

You'll never fly if you're too scared of the heights,
you'll never live if you're just too scared to die.
Everybody wants heaven, I know,
but darling freedom ain't free it's a long road.
You'll never find your place up there in the sky if you never say goodbye.
If you never say goodbye.

Track of the Day: "Ghost" (Dyro Remix) - Pink Is Punk & Benny Benassi

Bright Lights kicks off the intro with an eerie dark vocal section that is haunting and breathtaking, an ambience that soon lifts as the song builds. "Ghost" is a perfect representation of what Dyro brings to the table - high energy Electro House no matter what the canvas. Noteworthy in this remix for Benny Benassi & Pink Is Punk is the way in which he adds scratch and searing Electro while keeping the vocals as the main focus of the track so as not to distract from their intensity. Hardwell's protege has been getting a lot of exposure lately with "Leprechauns & Unicorns" and this is yet another to tighten his belt.

"Close Enemies" - Example (Dyro Remix)

Dyro is one of my favorite up and coming House producers. His original tracks are amazing, his remixes are great, and his sound is fresh, fun, and party ready. Put him on the remix for an amazing Example track, and the result is swoon-worthy. I love how upbeat the synth line and drops are, and the strong beat is amazing. I love uplifting house tracks like this, and I can totally picture us all raging to this at some festival in Summer 2013 (can't wait for festival season). Big ups Dyro! Like this? Listen to his original track "Paradox". It's ill.

"Sky High" - Dyro & Amba Shepherd

Dyro is on the rise to the top. The young DJ producer made his debut onto the world stage in 2011 on Hardwell’s Revealed Recordings, and has already garnered support from top-jocks David Guetta, R3hab, Afrojack and Nicky Romero. "Sky High" shows the Dyro electronic, high-energy, peak time wall of Electro House sound at full volume, with Amba Shepherd’s vocals giving the track a sleek dancefloor sound. Recently named “the number one voice on today’s dance floor," the multi-talented Australian singer-songwriter and producer Amba Shepherd is rapidly finding success around the world with her recent collaborations with the likes of Porter Robinson, Lazy Rich, Ferry Corsten and Kevin Doherty. These have already been two to keep your eye on for a long while, but now they're coming at you full force! Check it!
