Rusko Presents: Stir Fry Mix #2

Rusko remains one of the founding fathers of the dance music wave in the US, and one of the scene's most vibrant rebels. The British pioneer has brought us countless staples in the world of Dubstep from "Everyday," to "Woo Boost," to "Cockney Thug," apart from being the headliner of the first show I attended which will forever keep his music close to my heart. Personal feelings aside, this two hour mix of hand-picked tracks showcases both his ear for good music and his knack for slapping you in the face with unexpected sounds. The mix starts off with some groovy, chill beats but quickly transfers over to the heavy bass. Stir Fry really covers it all so the next time you want to hear new music but you're not sure what mood you're in, I would highly recommend blasting this.

Free Download: "Paper Hype" - Paper Diamond & Protohype

The new Paper Diamond EP Paragon was put out yesterday, and I cannot say I'm disappointed. The release is a bit slower than we’re used to from Paper Diamond, but it’s definitely a dope album, showcasing some skills that you generally don't see in the bass genres these days. My favorite off the album is "Paperhype," which was co-produced with the help of Protohype. The track's a bit more upbeat than the rest of the album, and is also a bit heavier than what we've come to expect from these two. Grab the free download today!

Track of the Day: "Out Of My Mind" (Case & Point Remix) - Bingo Players

It's been a while since I've heard a good Dubstep Remix - I've been all House, Trance, and Trap of late, but this track so far has done an excellent job of getting me "Out Of My Mind" and back to my original EDM roots. Despite its forcefulness, the track still manages to be melodic and mellow. Combined with a flow like no other this is a perfect example of my favorite kind of Dubstep. Not that Billboard is an authority on EDM, but they picked this one as Track of the Week: a very well-deserved title. Big ups to these Boston producers for this huge remix!

"Into The Past" - Nero (Great Gatsby Soundtrack)

One of the most anticipated films of the year has teamed up with Interscope for a stunning soundtrack commissioning the likes of Beyonce, Lana del Rey, and Florence & The Machine. While it doesn't surprise us, the sheer gravity of Nero's newest production for the movie far surpasses anyone else's thus far. "Into the Past" was put up earlier today and is absolutely enormous. A listen through the cinematic track reveals a heart-wrenching song with an ominous bassline complementing Alana Watson's every breath. The power created when combining Alana's tearjerking vocals over heavy percussion will have your palms sweating. I'm genuinely looking forward to see how the filmographers put this in the movie.

Free Download: Zeds Dead Spring Promo Mix

I never doubt any release from ZD because they are masters at what they do but really, this mix is killing the game. While they are notorious for their bass-heavy bangers, this mix has a surprising diversity of sound that showcases the guys' abilities and hints at a possible change in their musical style. The mix starts off with some classic ZD Dubstep before smoothly dropping in to a few trap beats. After another quick stop in the land of Progressive House, the mix gets in to 6 minutes of pure sexiness somewhere between 25:00 and 31:00. This part has a slow yet sultry beat that echoes relentlessly, a type of sexy that makes me want to slow grind up against a wall. With no time to cool down, ZD picks up the pace for the rest of the ride, throwing in some moombah, reggae, Biggie, and other surprises galore. Undoubtedly, this is their best mix to date. Zeds Dead will be kicking off their worldwide tour this week and I am excited to say that I will be seeing them this weekend in the best location imaginable: Amsterdam. Performing at the RFLX festival held at Heineken Music Hall, ZD will be joined by Netsky, Datsik, Sub Focus, and many more!
