Track of the Day: "Halo" - Dirty South & Deniz Koyu (Preview)

Not even a full month into 2013, music has been nothing short of impressive, and this is a perfect example. This new collab comes from House anthem gurus Dirty South and Deniz Koyu to produce the song "Halo." This one's been rumored to be in the making for quite some time now and is scheduled to be released for download through Phazing Records on February 4th. “Halo” has been played in both dj’s recent sets, and can now be officially previewed below, although I must warn you it is a huge tease to only listen for a minute and thirty seconds. We don't usually post previews on the site, but this one needs to be heard. Nonetheless, the song is huge mood lifter and you will definitely be able to hear this live at a show on Koyu's Generation Wild tour stop nearest you, and we got the tickets here!

NYE NYC with Dada Life, Deniz Koyu, & Bassjackers

This December 31st there's nowhere in the world I’d rather be than the Dada Land Compound in Brooklyn, New York to celebrate the biggest night (or morning) of the New Year with my two favorite Swedes. Olle and Stefan will be commanding a 64,000 square foot warehouse, transforming the space into the ultimate Dada playground. I've seen Dada Life three times already, at Electric ForestElectric Zoo, and Electric Adventure, and their live sets are nothing short of pure energy, so I can’t even imagine what this party will have in store for us. Area Event, who brought us the rager in the form of Electric Adventure at Six Flags back in the fall, will be proudly throwing this party in true Tri-State fashion. At this NYE party, there are no rules - but the rules of Dada.

As if this show didn't already sound mind-blowing, the two opening DJs are a stellar edition to the already high-octane ravefest. Turkish Progressive House DJ/Producer Deniz Koyu is sure to set the tone for the night with his energetic, synth-driven beats, exhilarating build-ups, and dirty breakdowns.  His biggest hit, “Tung”, has reached worldwide acclaim - let's just say that if you're humming this track on the sidewalk, people WILL recognize (trust me on this one!).  Start your pregaming early, because you won't want to miss out on hitting the "Bong" to D Koyu's potent electronic beats!

Keeping in line with the Electro vibe, Bassjackers is an exciting addition to this lineup. Their productions have that Progressive flair without a lot of vocals, leaving pure raw energy the norm. This duo is absolutely gonna turn up the bass, so don’t be surprised if your makeup is running before Dada even comes on.

NYC has survived Hurricane Sandy, the presidential election, and the Mayan apocalypse, so let's close out 2012 with a fucking bang! Chug champagne and eat bananas like you're low on potassium, because Dada Life is going to ensure that no matter how pretty you arrived, you’re going to leave a mess. Now feed the DADA!

Track of the Day: "Pretender" - Miike Snow (Deniz Koyu Remix)

Miike Snow's original productions truly come to life when they're remixed. The Dirty South remix of "Devil's Work" was a huge success when it was released a few months back, and next up to bat is Deniz Koyu. The king of dirty bass-lines and Electro House rhythms takes a stab at "Pretender" - and it gushes. This may not be the sound you're necessarily used to hearing from D, mastermind behind rave-anthems "Tung" & "Bong," but either way it's a crazy track with a big sound - and one you'll be sure to hear on the fall festival cycle. Enjoy your Friday night and check the Track of the Day!

"Follow You" - Deniz Koyu

After producing one of the biggest festival hits of late "Bong" and a great remix to Zedd’s "Spectrum," Deniz Koyu follows up with a catchy, upbeat tune called "Follow You" that features vocals from Wynter Gordon. The Turkish producer ditches his iconic booming horn Electro House drop in favor of a more Progressive House big-room anthem on this hot new track released yesterday, August 20th on Big Beat Records. The track starts off with a bouncy melody and drumbeat that resembles his usual style but leads to Wynter Gordon’s soothing vocals over a rising, uplifting chord progression. Koyu’s successful stylistic change here goes to show how eclectic and talented he is as a producer and why is he one of the major rising artists in EDM today. Although Deniz won’t be at Electric Zoo in two weeks, definitely expect to hear this song on heavy rotation at Randall's Island next weekend!
