"Your Eyes" - Colin Munroe ft. K Flay (Datsik Remix)

It's no surprise that this Canadian combo makes for some heat on Datsik's remix of Colin Munroe's "Your Eyes." Munroe is emerging as a singer on the dubstep scene, and with this hit, and others (see "Fight of My Life" Zeds Dead Remix), one could make the case that he is a top vocalist in bass music. On the production side, bass superstar Datsik refers to Dubstep as "the punk rock of electronic music," and whether or not you agree with the dude he sure knows how to make hits! Using the influences of old-school hip hop and UK Garage to his advantage, he continues to progress bass music and pump out bangers. Turn up the bass and enjoy some fresh drumstep.

Track of the Day: "Deviance" - Excision & Datsik (Dirtyphonics Remix)

Excision's newly released remix EP entitled X Rated (The Remixes) features edits by drum and bass and dubstep artists such as Dirtyphonics, Far Too Loud, Lucky Date and Xilent to name a few.  The EP features banger after banger, as long as hard and loud bass growls and piercing synths are your type of thing. The most popular track of the album thus far has been Dirtyphonics’ remix of “Deviance”.  The French quartet speed up the tempo a bit to give it a harder hitting drum and bass style while they still keep the redeeming qualities of the original. The track builds with machine-like noises that sound like something out of the Transformers movie series, and then at the command of the vocal “Drop It," the Dirtyphonics lay down some serious heat. The drop sounds similar to the original but more chopped and faster, with some added background lazers and sliced vocals. Dirtyphonics put on an amazing set last weekend at Electric Zoo, and with their constant stream of remixes coming out, be sure to not to miss them when they're coming to a city near you.

Filthy New Bass: Psycho EP - Getter

Just released today on Datsik's label Firepower is this sick new five-track EP from Getter, a young artist who has recently been attracting a lot of attention. Since the EP was released on Datsik's Label, I expected it to be absolutely filthy, and it definitely did not disappoint.

All of the tracks are absolutely dirty and face melting, but my two favorites are "Deadly" and "Wizard Flex", which both feature some absolutely epic basslines and some crazy synths, along with some strong driving beats. All in all, this is a very solid EP from Getter that is a must listen if you enjoy very heavy, dissonant, face-melting dubstep. With recent support by bass acts Flux Pavilion, Rusko, and more in their live sets, Getter is surely a name to watch. Have a listen and let me know what you think! If you like this track, then have a listen to the Getter Remix of "Sierra Leone" by Mt. Eden which is definitely worth a listen.
