Track of the Day: "Soldier" - Amba Shepherd (Chooky Remix)

Amba Shepherd released her wet vocals for her newest single "Solider" soon to be released on QuantumDNB. Different producers from around the globe took a stab at the remix contest to see if they have what it takes to work with one of EDM's rising vocal queens. Amba has without a doubt delivered us inspiring lyrics and angelic vocals that will dig you right out of the darkest trench and carry you away. Just shut your eyes and listen to a hook full of harmonies, that will have chills running down your spine.

Chooky's remix of "Solider" struck a chord, coming at you full throttle with the incorporation of his own musical flair, which is starting to get significant recognition. With a drum & bass intro and Skrillex-esque production style, the track drops heavy into melodic dubstep. He even throws in solider marching feet and a gun sound effect in the background as a perfect adapation for what the track needs. Chooky's sound has manifested into something of his own ready, and is ready to be shared with the world.

Amba Shepherd has once again proved herself as what DMC World called her "the number one voice on today's dancefloor."

Free Download: Sick Dubstep Fix on a 90's Classic

Hey everyone, check out this sick Dubstep update on one of my all time favorite 90's songs! I'm sure that nearly everyone in the world has heard the original "Sex and Candy" by Marcy Playground but even classic songs can sometimes use an update, especially ones that came out 15 years ago (which makes me feel old)! Here to provide us with a little update is ChooKy with this awesome #BASS remix, which is done properly by adding enough bass to change the vibe but not so much as to lose the original sound. Because of this excellent balance, we have a nice and modern take on a classic that still has a spot on many of my go-to playlists. Have a listen, and let me know what you think! If you like what you hear, be sure to make a stop on his SoundCloud and have a listen to his sick Moombah track "Shake It Mamma" which is also definitely worth a listen.

And if you missed Laryssa Loza's review of Get Loud! Music Festival in D.C., check it out because ChooKy killed it!

Review: GET LOUD! Music Festival, Washington D.C.

I celebrated 4/20 at the DUBTRO presents GET LOUD! Music Festival, at the Warehouse Loft in DC. The venue was sick, with a huge outdoor stage and 4 indoor stages featuring all different types of sounds. My favorite acts of the night were FIGURE and DC Native, Chooky.

A regular name in the realms of dubstep and drumstep, FIGURE held down the outdoor stage. Spinning original tracks such as "Cut Throat" and his latest tune "The Brink," which he released last weekend for free, FIGURE threw down a hard set which definitely did not go unnoticed. At the end of his performance, FIGURE dropped a moombahton track which he told the audience he had just finished; keep your eyes peeled for it, because it was dirty and massive! This insanely talented heavy bass producer is a must-see live!

Up-and-coming Chooky took one of the indoor stages by storm. Competing for the same time-slot as Mord Fustang, he was able to maintain and command a room full of fans. His transitioning from moombahton originals and remixes to electro-house, and closing out with dubstep kept the crowd dancing. He included a live vocal performance by Carly Burns, "Good as Gold" and 'Shapeshifter" which are set to be released by Subdrive this summer. I spoke with Chooky, who said he has a lot of dubstep/electro house tracks in the works. Be on the lookout for these, and download his tracks for free on Soundcloud.
