"I Need Your Love" (R3hab Remix) - Calvin Harris ft. Ellie Goulding

Although this song has been out for a good amount of time, only a few solid remixes of it have popped up. Three greats in one killer track has made this song incredible. R3hab has only his remix of "I Need Your Love" online for two days and it has already hit 140,000 views so if you haven't listened yet you absolutely must. This song completely changes rises and falls of Calvin Harris' original, ups the tempo creating new build ups and breakdowns in a transfixing way that gives you chills the first round. R3hab has only been on the scene for a few years but continually packs a punch with all of his remixes that truly reinvent great songs. Grab the free download below!

EDM, Al Waser, and the Horseshit Grammy Awards

Okay so before I really begin delving in to this subject, I just want to say FUCK YOU GRAMMYS. Now down to business. All of us here at EDM Lounge are ecstatic about the increase of EDM artists represented in the nominations this year. The revolution is really sweeping the globe! However, it is common knowledge that once a good thing gets snatched up by the mainstream, the corporate suit will just rip it apart and turn it in to another contrived industry based on political favors and overdone marketing.

The feature example this year: Al Waser. Who the fuck is Al Waser and why is his music so terrible and why was he nominated for Best Dance Recording? We’re still waiting for the tight-lipped Grammy executives to break their "no-comment" streak on this. (Huge props to our friend Mr. EDM Snob for his original expose article). The music video for his "Grammy-Nominated record" had only 20 views prior to his posting....

While the music business and entertainment industries have always been one of the slimiest (trust us on this one), this is an all-time low. The purpose of the Grammy Awards is no longer to serve as a litmus paper that distinguishes between poor and high quality music, but as a political tool used to serve the rich and the powerful. I don’t know how much Al Waser paid or whose D he had to suck, but one thing is clear: he did not make it on to that list because of his musical abilities. Just look at his contenders...

Avicii ("Levels"): This one makes me want to eat my own ears, but it was a good song before it got so much airplay, and Avicii himself is an undeniably good producer - love him or hate him.

Calvin Harris ("Let's Go"): internationally respected in both production and as a DJ, he's a genius who’s had numerous platinum hits this year already.

Skrillex ("Bangarang"): Oh come on, don’t deny it. Everybody loves Skrilly (except my editor). After all, he's one of the pioneers that even made it possible for EDM to become a main component of the Grammys. Plus he already has 3 of those trophies on his shelf.

Swedish House Mafia ("Don't You Worry Child"): Legends. I hate to biased, but us here at EDM Lounge think that SHM is a shoo-in for the award this year.

...That is, if Al Waser doesn’t win.

And then there's the only category we can truly be proud of, the Remixed Recordings. The list includes Axwell's showstopping remix of Ivan Gough & Feenixpawl's "In My Mind," Photek's remix of Moby's "Lie Down in Darkness," Eric Prydz' "Midnight City" (deserves the win), Skrillex's classic remix of Nero's "Promises," and Tommy Trash's take on Deadmau5's "The Veldt."

The category for Best Dance/Electronic album is a little more reasonable. The nominees are Steve Aoki, Deadmau5, The Chemical Brothers (classic but a bit odd to see them pop up now), Kaskade, and Skrillex (again). A rather predictable list, but at least it's fair competition. And of course as EDM Lounge’s resident "Diplo chick," I’m super excited about Diplo’s nomination for best producer. If he wins, I'll give you guys my personal SnapChat username for some erotic twerktastic surprises (if you're doubting what I'm capable of just look below).

EDM and Al Waser aside, the rest of the Grammy nomination list is equally horseshit. What is the music world coming to when "Sexy and I Know It" by LMFAO gets nominated for Best Pop Duo Performance? I mean really, LMFAO is already embarrassing enough purely by the fact that they still exist but "Sexy and I Know It" isn’t even from 2012! It is from 2011, alongside other songs nominated this year such as “HYFR” by Drake/Lil Wayne, "Niggas In Paris" By Jay-Z/Kanye West, and "Wild Ones" by Flo-Rida & Sia.

"Here 2 China" - Calvin Harris & Dillon Francis

As EDM Lounge’s resident Asian correspondent Trisha Takanawa, it is only fitting that I bring you this track today, "Here 2 China" by Calvin Harris and Moombahton master Dillon Francis, featuring rapper Dizzee Rascal. This electro-rap piece off Harris' 18 Months is an unexpected collab between the two producers, but we are always welcoming to DJs branching out from their signature sound, especially if they execute it this successfully. For all of you rap fans, English-born Dizzee Rascal kills it in his verses, bringing the track of the two EDM masters to fruition. Whether you’re a die-hard Hip-hop fan or a dedicated Electro Hard, this track will have no problem getting you to dance ninja style!

Track of the Day: "I Need Your Love" - Calvin Harris ft. Ellie Goulding

If recent leak “I Need Your Love” summarizes Calvin Harris’ upcoming album 18 Months, it’s going to be dope. Featuring the beautiful vocals of Ellie Goulding, known for her performance on Bassnectar's "Lights" and other huge tracks, the Scottish DJ’s newest track shows off his signature style of high-toned synths and a pounding bass. Harris is coming off an incredible summer with hype performances at EDC NY and SoundWave AZ among others. Be sure to download Harris’ album on 10/30 and watch for some hot remixes of this Track of the Day!

Preview: Soundwave Music Festival AZ

This Saturday Tempe, Arizona's annual Soundwave Music Festival will be taking over the Valley of the Sun at Big Surf Waterpark. This event has been known for housing big names such as Kaskade, Diplo, and Boys Noize so we at EDM Lounge are excited to check it out once more this year. With the addition of the Redbull Thre3style Massive stage, Soundwave has gotten twice the amount of talent it had last year, so if you're in the area you will not want to miss this. Watch out for our team there spreading the love (yes some of us are flying all the way from NYC for this!), and if you see us please be sure to SAY CHEESE!

Calvin Harris (Waikiki Beach Stage, 10:30 PM - 12:00 AM)

Calvin Harris is among the biggest names in EDM right now. After collaborating with artists like Rihanna and deadmau5, this young 28 year old producer still has a massive career ahead of him. A headliner at this year's EDC New York and Vegas, this mainstage act will sure to make waves, even if it is the desert.

FIGURE (Redbull Thre3style Massive Stage, 11:00 PM - 12:00 AM)

FIGURE has one of the wildest sounds coming out of bass music today. With a background in Electro House, Josh Gard brings to the table a truly unique, and loud Dubstep sound. With a strong and loyal fanbase fueled by his dedication to his listeners and free downloads, FIGURE has gone off the charts this year, and we can't wait to watch him close out the Surf festival at the Redbull stage Saturday night!

R3hab (Waikiki Beach Stage, 9:30 - 10:30 PM)

After dominating in the Dutch dance scene, R3hab has made a name for himself in Electronic Dance Music scene. From collaborating with the likes of Chuckie and Laidback Luke, to tearing up the stages at music festivals around the world, after this hour and a half of this you'll be screaming "I need R3hab!".

Adventure Club (Waikiki Beach Stage, 8:30 - 9:30 PM)

Adventure Club is an interesting producing duo that take the most unique and different tracks and remix them. From remixing Flight Facilities, to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and even Alexisonfire, AC have definitely mastered the art of making a song into a beautiful dub step tune. After a firey touring year for the two, from EDC Vegas to Electric Zoo, you can't miss this one.

Seven Lions (Waikiki Beach Stage, 6:30 - 7:30 PM)

Producer Jeff Montalvo has been making a lot of noise in not just the Dubstep charts, but the Trance charts too recently. His signature trancestep has become increasingly more and more popular with the overwhelming support of both of the genre's fan bases. Each track of his is different, and it should be a real treat to see it in action, live.
