Mountain Oasis Summit Headed For Asheville Halloween Weekend

The Mountain Oasis Electronic Music Summit will be making its inaugural debut this Halloween weekend in the vibrant city of Asheville, North Carolina. The Oasis is programmed and produced by the profound production team, AC Entertainment, which has brought to life events such as the incomparable Bonnaroo Music Festival, as well as Forecastle Music Festival in Louisiville, Kentucky. The summit will be sharing homebase with the highly praised Moogfest Music Festival, which has spread smiles across Southern music-loving faces since 2010. The 3-day music festival will be focusing on the fusion of art, music, and you the audience, with talks, seminars, and panels for the festgoer to indulge in, as well as, interactive experiences, including art installations and exhibitions.

This may be the first year that the world has become acquainted with the Summit, but it has already completely outdone itself in delivering a comprehensively mindblowing lineup. The weekend is capped with some heavyhitter headliners, including, Pretty Lights and Bassnectar. Browsing through the rest of the lineup, one will find an eclectic variety of artists from Disclosure, Jessie Ware, Animal Collective, Darkside, Shlohmo, XXYYXX, Jaques Greene, and many more rounding out the weekend's jam packed schedule. I, for one, am so excited to finally dance through the universe of "BassLights" for the first time. It has been long overdue, and I know that they will take me and the rest of the attendees to places that we never knew existed. I hope to see some of your there - let's get lost in the Oasis together!

Preview: "Take You Down" - Bassnectar

Lorin's latest summertime jam was just uploaded a few hours ago and is already on a collision course with my repeat button. Billed as a song that captures "that slow-motion feeling you get when you plunge backwards into something overwhelming, but never hit the ground," the title track off his upcoming 5 track EP is the perfect adieu to a summer that's now floating into memory. Tracks like this are the reason I love Bassnectar so be sure to pre-order Take You Down ahead of its release September 24th!

Track of the Day: "Not Too Late" (Bassnectar & PatrickReza Remix)

Bassnectar and PatrickReza have just released a new remix of Tom Swoon's "Not Too Late" after playing it at weekend 1 of UMF, and let me tell you, this track is THE SHIT. Lorin as we all know after this weekend always does a fantastic job with remixes (Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds anyone?!) and this banger is certainly no different. I love the contrast between Amba Shepherd's airy vocals and the heavier basslines that are in this reboot, and I can't get this one out of my head. Definitely a huge step for the songstress into the bass scene! So throw on some good headphones, have a listen, and then click the "repeat" button, because if you're anything like me, you're gonna wanna have this playing for the rest of the day.

Free Download: "Bird Machine" - DJ Snake ft. Alesia

There couldn't be a more appropriate title for this track. What's really just a syncopated simulation of birds making some noise has been very popular on the internet in the past week. Bassnectar has been previewing the "Bird Machine" in some of his most recent February sets, and I'm sure it does some serious damage when mixed into something else and on louder speakers. Though I'm a bit critical of this until I see how it performs in a "live" atmosphere, it's definitely a different sound that's somewhere along the lines of Trap/Anti-Dubstep. What do you guys think?

Track of the Day: "Rez" (Bassnectar Remix) - Underworld

If you got a dose of the Nectar over New Year's Weekend, I'm sure you heard this one. Lorin's latest bass surprise gets going with stellar sounds and twinkling glitch before blasting into a jungle drum breakdown. This one reeks his intergalactic style and makes me miss that special night we shared with him at Electric Forest. Bassnectar has a way of taking you along for the ride, even if it's a brutal one. "Rez" grabs you by the hands and whisks you away, it's all about that build that gives way to a straining, deep blow that will have you honey-soaked by the end. I can't wait to partake in some more Dubstep worship at Ultra this March!
