Track of the Day: "Sacramentum" (Andrew Rayel Aether Mix)

Whether you want to admit it or not, the EDM community is experiencing an existential crisis. As electronic music has become more and more popular in the US, there has been a noticeable lack of desire for innovation among many producers. Luckily, we have people like Andrew Rayel to fight against the tides. I can't think of an adjective that properly describes just how groundbreaking his work has been since the fall, with his "Aether" and "Stadium" mixes in particular pushing the boundaries of epic Trance farther than ever before.

His latest Aether Mix with the Russian Bobina is an altar of sound illuminated by piano and drum breakdowns, a beautiful voice sample, chord progressions galore, and his patented synth layering that brings it all together into a remarkable Trance ballad. Tracks like this are what give me hope that electronic music will weather this storm and emerge stronger than ever before. Grab your copy today from Armada!

Free Set Downloads: ASOT 600 Beirut

For those of you who didn’t tune in, yesterday was A State of Trance 600 Beirut, part of the Expedition tour celebrating 600 episodes of Armin Van Buuren’s weekly radio show. It was an absolutely extraordinary event, with stellar performances from Antillas, Andrew Rayel, Dash Berlin, Armin van Buuren, John O’Callaghan, and MaRlo. The sets from Dash Berlin and Andrew Rayel in particular were outstanding, with the latter getting huge praise on the internet by the TranceFamily. Armin's set was, as usual, mind-blowing. Dropping all of his best tracks, in addition to mixing in new promos, Armin kept the Electro energy cranked all the way up from his warm-up to his entire two hour set. His set is available for free download, go check it out and relive the magical event all-night event.

Track of the Day: "Musa" (Original Mix) - Andrew Rayel

As you probably know by now, I’m a pretty big fan of Dubstep, Moombahton, and Trap. But what very few people know about me is that, deep down, I forever will be a Trancehead through and through. Although I spend most of my time finding new tracks from different genres, I always make sure I set aside some time to look for new Trance tracks. I happened to be doing that the other day and stumbled upon a new track from one of my favorite Trance producers, Andrew Rayel. "Musa" had the honor of being the ASOT 599 Tune Of The Week, and after listening to it I can hear why. This one has everything you could ever want: a deep, melodic buildup and some absolutely face-melting synths. Heck, there’s even an opera score in there too. Andrew Rayel has confirmed yet again why he is one of my favorite producers. There hasn’t been an official release date yet, but look for "Musa" to drop sometime in April on none other than Armada Music.

Triple Stacked Trance Tuesday

Kepler 22 - Fady & Mina (Andrew Rayel's Aether Remix)

This massive track has been featured recently on ASOT 576 and I am just loving it! With a beautiful classical piano breakdown and a massive build, this song has the workings to be a big tune. With that signature ASOT sound, and a building and driving bass, it is sure that this track will be popping up in even more ASOT sets in the coming days. Andrew Rayel has remixed a track to make it sound almost like a Trance anthem, and I am sure trance fans old and new will adore it.

"I believe music is a universal language, that unites people with nothing but love. I intended to make sure that my tracks are nothing except full of emotions and happiness, as it’s one of the reasons behind music, and that is making the world a better place" - Andrew Rayel

"No One Home" - Ana Criado & Omnia

Ana Criado has been known for laying down vocals for trance in the past, her most recognizable probably being "Suddenly Summer". With her signature airy and soft vocals, Ana Criado's voice almost seems like it was made for trance. Paired with Omnia's beautiful ambient, ethereal yet melodic sound, this track makes for the perfect combination of lyrics and melody. This track makes me look forward to hearing more from her and Omnia. If you are a vocal trance lover, this song is certainly for you!

Golden Oldies

"Fine Without You" - Armin van Buuren

Armin van Buuren, one of the reigning and proclaimed "fathers of Trance" is still around and blowing up dance floors across the world. Even though he has been around for a while, he is still a top-dog in the trance industry and tracks like this are considered timeless classics. After hearing this track at EDC Vegas 2012, I can assure you it is still very relevant. With a deep bass-guitar sounding bass and the beautiful vocals of Jennifer Rene, this track should shoot nostalgia into any old trance-head's heart. Enjoy.
