Track of the Day: "Hint Of the Light" - Sergey Shabanov

Trance is a renaissance of our musical mindset, and as an evangelist of the genre I'm sure you all could need what Aly & Fila had to offer up on this week's Future Sound of Egypt. The famous Baroque composer Bach once said "the aim and final end of all music should be none other than the glory of God and the refreshment of the soul." Shabanov grabs you by your ears and takes you on a sonic journey bursting with the natural, nourishing your every need and exhilarating your senses along the way. The path to the heavens he takes you on in this astonishingly original production is fast but also furious, but at the end of your journey he gives you a "Hint Of the Light" shining from above. Find release in this clasically composed piece of music and give thanks for the solace Trance music can give us!

"When I Close My Eyes" - Alex M.O.R.P.H. (Aly & Fila Remix)

Aly & Fila attack Armada's latest angelic Trance ballad, infusing it with enough energy and emotion to make you lose your balance. Taken under the wings of the legendary Egyptian duo, the warm original featuring the divine vocals of Estonian singer Hannah is translated into a deeply emotional and club-ready hit. "When I Close My Eyes" is a journey of sound and sight that lasts only 8 minutes, but will resonate in your mind so much longer. With the walls shaking, my face vibrating, "I Close My Eyes" and I lose track of where I am in space in time. I drift off into A State of Trance

"Muriwai" (Original Mix) - Akira Kayosa & Hugh Tolland

Sometimes Trance just makes you melt. This latest gem caught on Aly & Fila's radio show and now ABGT is one that does just that, but slowly. With a bright melody line and a heavenly break, "Muriwai" is set to be the latest dancefloor hit for all those dreamers out there upon its release December 3rd. UK producer Russell Ogden, known in the field by his Japanese pseudonym Akira Kayosa teams up with Scottish producer Hugh Tolland to bring us something ethereal, relentless, and bursting with brilliant energy

Your Guide to Electric Zoo NY Afterparties

Excited for Zoo? I sure as hell am. Concerned about how early the festival ends each night? Not a problem! Made Event (who hosts the festival) have some terrific post-festival afterparties that are happening each night after the festival at Best Buy Theatre and Roseland Ballroom in New York City, and I am thrilled that I'll be able to continue the party into the wee hours of the morning until I "calm down" (these shows are also a great opportunity for those who aren't attending EZoo to still experience the massively talented lineup). Sound awesome? It is.

Friday 8/31/2012

EDITOR'S PICK: Zeds Dead, 12th Planet, Netsky, Mt. Eden, & more (Best Buy Theater from 11-4 AM)

This is going to be a sick show (and one yours truly will definitely be attending). The lineup for this is already stacked, and the pricetag is very reasonable considering the amount of talent they are cramming into 5 hours. Literally every one of these main headliners puts on a sick show, and having seen ZD and Mt. Eden perform together at this very same venue before I can guarantee you the house will be fucking brought down. Check out these videos of live shows and recent tracks And take our word for it, Best Buy Theater has incredible bass.

Michael Woods, Gabriel & Dresden with Audien hosted by Ferry Corsten (Roseland Ballroom, 11 PM - 4:30 AM)

Not into Dubstep or DnB? That's totally fine, head over to Roseland Ballroom instead and catch what will be a massive party hosted by some big names in Trance and House. This is a great choice for those who want to continue in their "state of Trance" until Saturday morning, and there's no better place to do that than Roseland, hands down one of NYC's best venues. Have a look at some of their tracks and live stuff. This will definitely be an awesome show, and you should expect to see some of our Trance Family keeping it PLUR at this one, so stop by and say hi!

Tickets ($45)

Markus Schulz Scream Album Tour with KhoMha (Best Buy Theater, 11 PM - 4 AM)

Insanity. Trance artist Markus Schulz will be playing a massive set in celebration of his album Scream that will be released on Friday 8/31. Like Trance? Then this is definitely the place to be Saturday night. This year's Trance lineup at Zoo is incredibly stacked, so if you miss any big names, the afterparties are the time to catch up with who you missed!

Uplifting Trance Track "Coming Home" - Aly & Fila vs. Jwaydan

It's been a while since I have heard a track that made me think instantly of 2010 Trance. But Aly & Fila, a duo that have yet to disappoint my ears, resurrect that classic trance sound with this killer new track, featured on Armin van Buuren's A State of Trance 2012 Mix. There needs to be more trance like this out there right now! "Coming Home" has an old vibe with a familiar build and similar lyrics to that classic trance of a few years back. Aly & Fila truly deliver with this track, and I hope to hear this in sets at festivals coming up this summer after its release in June.  Even though I do adore some progressive trance, there is an extreme shortage of uplifting vocal tracks such as this! Give it a listen and respect the roots of the wonderful genre that is trance!
