Ryan is known for his mashups or "podcast-minis," and this is without a doubt one of the very best he's ever put together. Played Saturday at his mainstage set Kaskade took the classic Dragonette "Fire In Your New Shoes" and gave it a breathtakingly powerful spin never heard before.Alesso's "Clash" melds perfectly in line with the rhythm of the lyrics to create a truly powerful track that had the milky sea of lasers and neon completely transfixed as soon as the first "I light a fire" was echoed throughout Bayfront Park. Expect this as a free download on a Monday coming soon.
These will be the years, Alesso has it exactly right. As 2012 wrapped up one of the biggest and most amazing years for electronic dance music, 2013 has immediately treated us all to a New Years mini-mix done by the young Swedish House DJ & Producer prodigy. This protégé of Swedish House Mafia’s Sebastian Ingrosso has brought great things to the scene, including the hits “Calling (Lose My Mind)”, “Years” and “City of Dreams” all featured in this quick, yet amazing mix done exclusively for BBC Radio 1. It's hard to feel anything but happy for the full 17 minutes while listening, so I highly advise you all to grab the free download below and look for Alesso on the Winter White Tour hitting a few locations on the east coast beginning January 31!
Refune Records is back today with a record for the ages! In true Arty fashion, the mix gets going with slow piano rifts that carefully guide you to a climactic break that will have your hairs on end. Alesso's edit takes the original and adds a dash of Progressive, turning it into a track bursting with energy and motion. Not straying far from the original, Alesso tastefully adds a little of his own flair leaving Arty's original layout intact and still very much allive. "When I See You" is an awe-inspiring roller-coaster of music and something I hope to hear this spring during festival season 2013!
As the intro creeps up into your ears, be ready for a darker yet refreshing Alesso sound that is just as irresistible as his previous anthem "Calling (Lose My Mind)" with SHM’s Sebastian Ingrosso featuring the chill-inducing vocals of Ryan Tedder. Out on Refune Records today, Alesso's "Clash" is a prime example of his sound diversity as an artist. Introducing a heavier Electro sound and bassline than he is known for, the Progressive production master still churned out the perfect song to pump up a crowd. It never ceases to amaze me how much of an impact the Swedes have on the Electronic Dance Music scene, and this is just another perfect reminder.
It's time that time of year again, when we journey through the rabbit hole into the magical land of Nocturnal Wonderland! Held at the famous NOS Center in San Bernadino, California this legendary festival has been taking place for the last 18 years and is growing every year. Last year the festival was turned into a 2 day event making Nocturnal that much bigger!
With a stacked lineup comparable to this year's EDC, Nocturnal has gotten us here at EDM Lounge excited to follow Insomniac even further into the "Energy that Awaits." The following is a list of acts you'll catch me night 1 (Friday) in Wonderland!
Soundprank (Alice's House, 5:00 - 6:00 PM)
Hailing from Ontario, this progressive producer is making sparks with many big names in Trance today. Now a part of the Group Therapy stage, Soundprank will no doubt be a pleasure to watch live. Incorporating a sense of excitement comparable to older trance, while still maintaining a fresh sound in his productions, Colin Fisher might have a few tricks up his sleeve and we are excited to see them!
Boom Jinx (Alice's House, 6:00 - 7:00 PM)
Boom Jinx is definitely no stranger to Group Therapy, but his electrifying performance will surely have you hooked. Taking you on a musical journey, his light funky melodies and clean basswill keep you dancing until the sun sets on Nocturnal Wonderland.
Famous for adding his special touch to progressive House tracks, EDX has collaborated and produced many tracks. Producing since 1994, this DJ will no doubt be interesting to watch. Look out for him at the Labyrinth!
With his new album, In the Air now out, and over 130 remixes to his name, Morgan Page will no doubt be an exquisite Wonderland treat. Teaming up with names like Angela McCluskey and Teagan & Sara for his new album, EDM Lounge can't wait to be "In the Air" with Morgan Page!
With a stellar House music podcast called Dark Light Sessions, Fedde le Grand is definitely a must-see for us. Tearing up the main stage at last year's Nocturnal, we are curious to see what Dutch producer and DJ has ready for us this time!
